It's hard to answer the question of how long I've been racing. I started track and field when I was 7 years old. At that time I also ran my first 5k road race. Throughout most of my life I have had some athletic goal that I have been working toward. However, in the past few years I have become serious about ultra endurance racing and I've been trying to decide what niche I want to focus on. I've run 50 mile ultra marathons, raced in ultra distance mountain bike races, competed in adventure races, and raced up and down mountains on foot. I've learned that I was made to climb and that I love being on my bike.
A few of my accomplishments in recent years include: 1st place woman in the New England Endurance series 2012 and second place 2013. This is a series of long distance mountain bike races. 2008-2013 either second or third place woman each year in the Great Adventure Challenge (kayak, mountain bike, mountain run). 2013 second place woman in the Mountain Epic 12 mile mountain run. 2011 second place woman in the Sugarloaf 25 mile mountain bike race. There are plenty more, but these are some high lights.
Currently I'm training for the Mount Washington road race and spending time working hard on the bike trainer. I'll enter the lottery for Mount Washington in February. It's hard to get in. This year I plan to win the New England Endurance series again, no more second place. I also plan to win the great Adventure Challenge. No more second place there, either. In September I'm also planning to compete in the North Country Endurance challenge, assuming it is held again. I personally call this race the ironman of off road triathlon. It's kayak, trail/mountain running and mountain biking. The race can take up to 12 hours and is extremely challenging.
So watch for me this year and watch for some first place finishes.
